Tips For Visiting Walt Disney World With a Baby

Thinking about visiting Walt Disney World with a baby for the first time? Here are the best Walt Disney World tips to make your family vacation a magical one!

Download the My Disney Experience App

When visiting Disney World with a baby there is a certain level of planning required to ensure your trip goes smoothly. The FREE My Disney Experience App allows you to make and share those plans directly from your phone! Through this amazing app you are able to book dining reservations, select FastPasses and keep track of entertainment times.  I can’t say enough great things about the My Disney Experience App, I highly recommend signing up and taking advantage of all the wonderful things this app has to offer.

FastPass+

If your little one is anything like mine then you know waiting in long lines while visiting Disney World is just not an option. This is why FastPasses are your best friend when visiting Disney World with a baby! FastPasses are like reservations but for Disney World rides and attractions. Through the My Disney Experience App, you are able to book your FastPasses up to 60 days prior to your trip. This is awesome because it allows you to choose up to 3 of your must-see attractions in advance per day and plan your days accordingly.

Character Dining

From Minnie and Mickey to Disney Princesses, Disney offers a wide variety of character dining options. Character dining is such a magical experience when visiting Walt Disney World with a baby and it’s the best way to meet your child’s favorite characters without having to wait in line. I definitely recommend booking at least one character dining experience during your trip! Reservations book up quick and walk-ins are never guaranteed, so make sure you book your reservation ahead of time.

Stay At A Disney Hotel

There’s something extra magical about choosing to stay at a Disney Hotel during your Disney vacation.  Not only is it much more fun to stay on Disney property, but it is also beneficial. One of the biggest advantages to staying at a Disney hotel is access to free Disney transportation. Each hotel offers buses that will take you directly to the entrance of each theme park. This is a huge time saver when visiting Disney World with a baby because it cuts down on travel time as well as money!

Start Your Day Early

Check the park hours and get there right when the park opens. The morning the best time to experience Disney World with a baby because it is least crowded time of the day. It is also the coolest part of the day temperature wise. If there are any rides or character meet and greets you really want to see, the morning is definitely the time to go!

Plan Around Nap Time

Even though you are in Disney World, your little one will still need to get in their daily nap. Pay attention to the time and make sure you plan your day around this. Sometimes they will nap in the stroller, other times, it’s best to head back to the hotel for a couple hours. Huge tip for visiting Disney World with a baby: do not skip nap time!

Bring A Stroller

You will definitely want to have a stroller while in the parks, but you will also need to park your stroller often. Disney offers rental strollers but they are expensive ($15 per day.) I suggest bringing your own small, light weight, fold-able stroller with a canopy. Another tip is to scope out the stroller parking areas ahead of time this will makes things a lot easier for you throughout the day.

Carry A Backpack

Trade your purse and diaper bag in for a backpack while visiting the Disney World theme parks. Backpacks are super convenient for Disney because they are hands free and allow you to pack everything into one place. You can actually hang your backpack right on the back of your stroller so you don’t even have to worry about the strain on your back.

Pack Light

Obviously when going anywhere with a baby there are several things you have to bring with you. In my case, I packed a backpack with diapers, wipes, change of clothes for Ella, snacks, a water bottle and a small wallet. This will be different for everyone, but the lighter you pack the better.

Bring Snacks

Disney allows you to bring snacks into the park for children – take full advantage of this! I always pack a small bag of snacks such as granola bars, crackers and cheerios. This is great for if your child gets hungry in between meal times because snacks in the parks can be pretty pricey.

Stay Hydrated

Disney sells water bottles throughout the parks but they also allow you to bring your own. Staying hydrated is so important. Make sure you keep your water bottles filled throughout the day. If you forgot a water bottle and don’t want to buy one go to any quick service food station and ask for a cup of ice water – they are free and unlimited.
